It is the responsibility of EMA to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Boone County before a disaster strikes through planning, training, and mitigation and to reduce human suffering after a disaster strikes through prompt and effective coordination of the state's response and recovery efforts utilizing partnerships with state, local, and federal agencies and voluntary organizations. These disasters include every possibility from HazMat (Hazardous Materials) accidents to plane crashes, floods, tornados and other natural disasters). She was presented with the Thank You plaque on Saturday June 26, 2010 by the DART members at the end of the day around 2:30 at DART’s Run Fur Fun fundraising event. DART responds to disasters to help rescue the animals that had to be left behind. Sandra helps direct DART in disasters and also assists with training that is necessary to get things done. DART would not be able to do the things they do if it wasn’t for Sandra. That is why DART presented Sandra with the Thank You Plaque. This is a way DART showed their appreciation for all the hard work Sandra does. Sandra is a amazing women
