Boone Co Disaster Animal Response Team D.A.R.T

Boone County Disaster Animal Response Team or DART is a group of trained volunteers working under the direction of the Boone County Emergency Management Agency. We help educate people on what to do in the event of a disaster. Especially what to do for the furry, feathered, or scaled member of the family. If a disaster did occur our group helps with search and rescue efforts both human and animal. The group would establish a temporary shelter for the care of any animal in need. The animals would be cared for daily by our volunteers. Our motto is No Animal Left Behind. On October 1st 2011 our group will be hosting the 2nd Annual Run Fur Fun. This will be a 5K run through Spencer and Belvidere Park. This run is to help raise funds for additional training, community education, much needed supplies, and a trailer for those supplies. 2nd Run Fur Fun Proceeds from this event will benefit Boone County DART in purchasing a trailer, supplies, and additional training to help animals in need during a disaster. This will benefit not only DART but the communities which it serves.
