We help educate people on what to do in the event of a disaster. Especially what to do for the furry, feathered, or scaled member of the family. If a disaster did occur our group helps with search and rescue efforts both human and animal. The group would establish a temporary shelter for the care of any animal in need. The animals would be cared for daily by our volunteers. Our motto is No Animal Left Behind. On October 1st 2011 our group will be hosting the 2nd Annual Run Fur Fun. This will be a 5K run through Spencer and Belvidere Park. This run is to help raise funds for additional training, community education, much needed supplies, and a trailer for those supplies. 2nd Run Fur Fun Proceeds from this event will benefit Boone County DART in purchasing a trailer, supplies, and additional training to help animals in need during a disaster. This will benefit not only DART but the communities which it serves. These free, self-paced online courses are available at the FEMA Independent Study website, and are relatively short, easy to complete, and give you excellent information. You can also find dozens of other free, online disaster-related courses at the FEMA site. We encourage you to take any that help you pursue your interests in disaster preparedness and response. Several FEMA courses are strongly recommended as prerequisites for HSUS Disaster Response courses. While the material will be reviewed during the appropriate sections of the courses, if a large number of students enter an HSUS disaster class without having taken these FEMA courses, it slows down the class. Further, in order to be eligible for HSUS deployment, the required courses shown below must be completed within six months of acceptance on the National DART. Required ?
